I'm looking for a Valentine's Day Card
I find one that says True Love Is Forever
Then a voice inside my head says
If it doesn't last forever does that mean it isn't true love?
I just want a card I don't want to think about the
The No True Scotsman Logical Falacy
So I put down and I pick up another card that says
My true love, you're the only one for me.
Accurate reporting of the data shows that
I love you now but there was someone else before you
I can't rule out another lover in the future
My heart says no, but hey, statistics!
So I pick up a card that has no words
Just a teddy bear holding a heart
It's easier being perfectly factual
if you make no truth claim at the start
I'm a nerd in love
A science nerd in love
I'm a nerd in love
I'm a high functioning science nerd in love
I'm over thinking this Valentine's Day Card
But I got to take its statement to pieces
A simple platitude can't be excluded
From a lifetime habit of examining theses
The valentine card has a hypothesis
"Love not later means love not now"
But the arrow of time points forward
Breaking of causality we must disallow.
Love is blind, but the test can't be blinded
Love is unbounded, there's no way to measure it
Love is wild, there's no controlling it
Love is illogical and yet we treasure it
Love is intimate, no peer review, please
Love is unique, replication is impossible
Love is real, but science cannot tackle it
Love is love, and that's unfalsifiable
I'm a nerd in love
A science nerd in love
I'm a nerd in love
A science nerd in love
I'm a nerd in love
with no way to prove that
I'm a nerd in love
with no test to show that
I'm a nerd in love
Science cannot prove that
I'm a nerd in love
A card doesn't prove that
I'm a nerd in love
A poem doesn't prove that
I'm a nerd in love
Just got to trust me
I'm a nerd in love
A frustrated logical science nerd in love
Yeah, I'm a nerd in love
A science nerd in love
I'm a nerd
I'm a nerd
I'm a nerd in love
A high functioning science nerd in love
